***Happy Belated New Year!***

Despite the flu, freezing temperatures, and broken pipes, the new year is upon us and we have many great things to announce at PARSE! We have recently confirmed that PARSE will be organizing an ambitious program throughout the year at The Engine Room located at 2809 N. Robertson Street. Stay tuned for details about exhibitions, events, and free professional development workshops for artists in the months ahead.

LAUREN ROSS IN RESIDENCE

Lauren Ross will be PARSE’s curator-in-residence in our Marigny HQ February 7 – 28, 2018. During her stay in New Orleans she will be conducting studio visits with local artists and giving a lecture about her curatorial practice on February 27 at 6:30pm at The Engine Room. She will be curating an exhibition in New Orleans in the fall of 2018.

Lauren Ross is a curator, writer, teacher, and administrator with over twenty years of experience in contemporary art. She is based in Richmond, Virginia, where she recently founded the RVA Critical Art Writing Program. Ross has served as a curator at such institutions as the Institute for Contemporary Art in Richmond, VA; Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, OK; the High Line, New York, NY; Brooklyn Museum, NY; and White Columns, New York, NY. NEW BOARD MEMBERS

PARSE is also excited to announce several new members to our board of directors. Brainerd Montgomery, a lawyer based in New Orleans, joined the organization as Board Treasurer in July 2017. We are very grateful for his legal support and wisdom! Artist Shinique Smith joins PARSE as Board President, and curator and writer Emily Wilkerson as Board Secretary. We look forward to working with both of these talented individuals in the months and years ahead. Susan Bridges, owner and founder of Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta continues as PARSE’s Board Vice President. As the organization continues to grow, we look to our board for guidance and support, and we are eternally grateful for their contributions to PARSE’s curatorial and research-based residencies and art program in New Orleans.
