Join us as the artists of N. Robertson open their studio doors on May 25 6 - 9pm. The open studios will coincide with the closing reception of our 5th Annual Southeast Louisiana Juried Student Exhibition at Engine Room Art + Projects. Music, libations, and studio tours all in the name of art! Gallery hours will continue on Fridays noon to 5pm through June 1.

Marie-Laure S. Louis in Residence

Marie-Laure S. Louis is in residence at PARSE NOLA June 5 - July 7, 2018. During her stay she will investigate and document the mystical atmosphere surrounding Vodou culture and ceremonies. Her residency is sponsored by the Center for Gulf South History & Culture (GCS). Born and raised in the Republic of Mauritius, Marie-Laure lived in France for several years and currently resides in Québec City. She earned her Master's Degree in Sciences du Langage from the Université de Bourgogne Franche-Comté (Besançon, France). She received the grant Aide Individuelle à la Création from the D.R.A.C Bretagne (France) in 2016 for her research on the ongoing Mississippi art-project 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi (in progress) and received several grants from cities in Brittany (France) for her photography projects and research on New Orleans. Her series Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler won the Jury Award at the Nuits de Pierrevert photography festival (2015) and she was among the photographers of the New York Times Portfolio Review (2017).

Practical Advice for the Practicing Artist

"Practical Advice for the Practicing Artist: How to Write an Artist Statement" is the third in a series of professional development workshops for New Orleans' artists organized by PARSE NOLA at Engine Room Art + Projects and will take place on June 6, 6:30-8:30pm. Charlie Tatum, Editorial and Communications Manager at Pelican Bomb, will lead an informal dialogue with local artists to discuss how to write an artist statement. This event is FREE and open to the public. We'll be serving Gingeroo and light snacks.
