PARSE is proud to present “States of Existence,” the third annual Loyola Untitled Juried Exhibition, which showcases the work of undergraduate and graduate students from New Orleans’ and Southeast Louisiana colleges and universities. The exhibition is organized by Loyola Untitled Visual Arts Club and juried by New York-based curator Boshko Bosković. Nine artists were selected out of thirty-nine submissions from students at Delgado Community College, University of New Orleans, Tulane University, Loyola University New Orleans, University of Lafayette, and Southeastern Louisiana University.
The exhibition opens on June 3, 6 – 9pm and runs through Sunday, June 26. Gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 12 – 5pm (with the addition of the final Sunday).
“States of Existence” proposes an expansive approach to representing the human condition while exploring the relationship to the self and our immediate environment. Building upon themes of mythology, vulnerability, healing, heritage, and nature, the exhibition reflects upon the unrestrained use of materials and practices in relation to object making and states of being. The artists’ works unfold through a multitude of textures including: clay, fabric, plastic, eggshells, tree bark, beads, and porcelain. The diverse aesthetic perspectives introduce forms of art imbued with notions such as preserving time, self-portraiture, trauma, damage, and repair.

ABOUT THE CURATOR
Boshko Bosković (born in Belgrade, Serbia) is the Program Director of Residency Unlimited, a New York based residency program for international artists and curators. His curatorial practice contributes to promoting unexpected multicultural relations and realities. He has curated numerous exhibitions such as Reinterpreting the Frame, The Finish Museum of Photography, Helsinki, Future Perfect, Dazibao, Montreal, Monument-Movement, Center for Photography and the Moving Image, New York, Not So Distant Memory, Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts & The National Center for Contemporary Art, St. Petersburg, Russia, Paint Me Sculpturly, Artopia Gallery, Milan, Power of the Brand, Contemporary Art Museum Banja Luka, Bosnia & Herzegovina. In 2012, he curated in collaboration with the collective La Fabrique d’Expositions the video program Videozones in the context of the exhibition Montreal/Brooklyn, which was presented at the Galerie de l’UQAM, Montreal and at Interstate Projects, New York. He published essays for many of the aforementioned exhibitions.
Bosković had previously worked at the Felix Gonzalez-Torres Foundation managing the European retrospective Specific Objects Without Specific Form, which traveled to the Wiels Contemporary Art Center in Brussels, The Beyeler Foundation in Basel and the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt. During his tenure as Associate Director at the Sean Kelly Gallery in New York he worked closely with artists such as Los Carpinteros, Ilya & Emilia Kabakov and Johan Grimonprez.
