THE HUM

PARSE is proud to present a closing reception and screening of artist Dave Greber’s “THE HUM” at PARSE SECO Saturday, March 11, 5 - 9pm. This event is free and open to the public and features refreshments provided by Common Fire, Billhook, and Crawford Mallone Fine Wine. The reception will be followed by a performance by Hannah Adams and a "Records Are Your Friends" DJ set. 

From February 11 to March 11, 2017 artist Dave Greber is using the gallery at PARSE SECO as a studio space to create consciousness-shifting videos in collaboration with local healers. A consciousness-shifting video is one which intentionally changes the viewer psychologically, emotionally, or spiritually.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dave Greber studied at Temple University, Universiteit van Amsterdam, and Tulane University. After a stint as a filmmaker/freelance commercial video producer, he found his calling in the contemporary art resurgence of post-Katrina New Orleans, creating video loops and site-specific multimedia installations. His installations have been featured in museums: Crystal Bridges, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Telfair Musuem, Prospect 1.5, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans; commercial galleries, Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans, C24 Gallery in NYC; and International Media Festivals. His work has been covered by Art in America, Artforum, Rhizome, Hyperallergic, DailyServing, Pelican Bomb, Oxford American, and others. In 2015, he hiked the hiked the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail. The experience was the source material for his latest solo exhibit, Trail Magique, which was created with the help from a grant from the Warhol Foundation, at the May Gallery in New Orleans.
